TRAIL MAINTENANCE DAY

Calling all volunteers to clear trails obstructed by winter blowdowns, to cut fallen limbs into kindling, and to identify trail hazards that require the attention of the DEC Forestry Office.

We will have a team planting trees at Black Creek Preserve near Angelica, as well as working in the Phillips Creek Forest parking area off State Route 244, where we will dispatch crews for work on Trails 1, 2 and 3, as well as on the Beginner Trail.

The horse trails at Coyle Hill also needs clearing and remarking, if our crews have enough volunteers.

MEET @ Phillips Creek State Forest Entrance, Route 244

Volunteers needed for routine trail maintenance on the horse trails at Coyle Hill State Forest and the hiking trails at Phillips Creek State Forest.

Volunteers are also needed to cut up fallen limbs and branches, staining the horse ramp, and clearing roofs of pine needles at Stewart Forest Road camping area.

Start the New Year right: Hike, snowshoe, or ski with IMPACT in Phillips Creek State Forest. Dress for the weather. Bring your dogs. Have fun!

There is a trail loop to suit every ability level:

  • Beginner (0.8 mi,),

  • Trail 1 (1.5 mi.),

  • Trail 2 (1.25 mi.)

  • Trail 3 (2.0 mi.).
